In elementary school it is totally normal that I teach 5 lessons a day...and never stop moving. However, when I ended up back at elementary school in the new school year I had only 3 and had 2 free classes. One of the 2nd grade teachers invited me to join their 5th period class and I was so excited to be a part of it. The class had been working on an art project that related to some legend. This legend is about a magical egg and is popular in elementary school here in Japan. I did not ever hear the actual story but did get to do the art project. We colored our eggs and then "cracked" them open. Once they were in 2 pieces we glued them to a piece of paper and got a little free time to draw what was in our egg. I grew a baby Godzilla. The kids drew everything from fruit, to fish to monsters.
Here are our finished pages (the kids are holding their pages in front of their faces because I cannot post pictures of my students). If you click on the picture you can see the different art pieces better. They are adorable!
